Who is Stevens Maker?

Stevens Maker is a company founded in 2001 by Dennis Stevens. We specialize in skill convergence within the curatorial context.

Our mission is to conduct research and suggest new ways of looking at established ideas and concepts within the contemporary art and fine craft communities. We offer research and educational solutions that expand static content in a multidisciplinary approach that integrates audio, video, graphics and the Internet. Through our research, we seek to define the role of emerging technology within the various fields concerned with the study and creation of the handmade art object.

How we can help:

Multimedia & Video Production

We produce documentaries, conduct interviews of artists and develop web-based educational video programming for museums, galleries as well as independent and private projects. We also produce off-line publishing (i.e. print, CD-ROM, DVD) and build network/web based kiosk informational systems that are driven by nonproprietary, open source content management solutions.

Curatorial Services

We curate, produce and develop contemporary art and fine craft exhibitions. We are interested in collaborative opportunities as well as independent projects. We work with a team of experienced curators around the country to create and distribute traveling exhibitions as well as offer prepackaged shows, complete with catalogs.

Writing & Editing

We offer many services including the conceptualization and creation of content, layout/design and managing of the print process with national and international vendors. In addition, we are available to review exhibitions and produce individual artist profile articles for contemporary art and fine craft magazines such as Art in America, Sculpture, Art Forum, American Craft, American Ceramics, Ceramics in America, Ceramics Art and Perception and Ceramics Monthly.
