The work detailed below was collected as result of research and field work conducted in South Korea by Ralph Rinzler and Robert Sayers from 1971 until 1987. Details concerning onggi and it's use in Korean culture are described in the mongraph titled The Korean Onggi Potter, published by the Smithsonian Folklife Studies program in 1987. The images provided here were photographed by Dennis Stevens in 1998 at the Smithsonian Archives in Suitland, MD.
